Davonte Mahomes may be Bursting in to the Scene

7-0 on the season to start his college career

After Jordan Thomas was out with injuries a lot of question marks were around 174 for Michigan. It came to true freshman Mahomes and junior Ben Ralston. Mahomes was fresh off winning the MSU Open in the freshman/sophomore division and proceeded to beat Ralston 20-10 in the wrestle-offs. In his first dual action of his college career, he beat #8 Cody Walters (Ohio) 5-3 and Pat Jennings (Edinboro) 3-1. 

Mahomes is a 3-time state placer from Oak Park, Illinois and captured the state championship his senior year. He barely missed the USA Junior triple crown in 2013 capturing folkstyle & greco titles and taking 2nd in freestyle.

He is a takedown artist that can attack from many different angles, and somebody really exciting to watch in the future. After this weekend, he should be ranked and climbing as the season goes on.
