Rivalry Wins
/A few wins this weekend so far that had implications on the national duals picture had a rivalry flair to them.
Oklahoma State was only favored in five matches when they hosted Missouri nearly two years after Missouri's last dual defeat (also in Stillwater). The Cowboys won seven though and cruised to end Missouri's streak. The win makes it strange for the National Duals. While many would want to see Oklahoma State travel to Penn State, the earlier losses to Iowa and NC State spoil the idea especially if NC State finishes undefeated. They would have to beat Missouri on Valentine's Day for the honor though.
Lehigh beat up a limping Cornell team that didn't feature Garrett or Dean. Lehigh looks to win the EIWA conference dual slate as they beat Cornell for the first time since 2011. It'll be interesting to see who Lehigh gets in the National Duals. They have already wrestled Nebraska & Minnesota so maybe Rutgers or Michigan becomes a possibility.
Michigan had to fight off a couple "trap" matchups to beat in-state rival Central Michigan. 133, 149, 157, and 174 brought about some great battles. The teams split the four allowing Michigan to post a 22-12 victory. Michigan will be favored in every dual remaining on their schedule besides a trip to Penn State. Depending on how things shake out, it looks like they would (if they don't upset Cael) be in the 3rd Big Ten spot hosting either Missouri, Oklahoma State, or NC State.
