Gophers Escape Michigan
/Minnesota got three key wins, at 125, 157, and 174, to escape Cliff Keen Arena with a win. Both programs are in a transition period of sorts for different reasons leading to an interesting and unpredictable December Big Ten dual.
At 157, Jake Short kept his winning ways by weathering a first period from Brian Murphy. Murphy would slow down and Short would time up his attacks better to pull off the upset.
At 174, Myles Amine got visibly frustrated with not scoring or receiving stall calls on several attacks leading to a couple poor shots that Wanzek took advantage of.
At 125, Assad beat Petry at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas last week. However, the Gophers sent out Polakowski and he was able to get the better of a couple exchanges for the 6-4 win.
It wasn't all terrible for Michigan. Logan Massa continues to shine and fellow freshman Micic was right there with him today. Micic needed a comeback to beat McKee in Vegas, but this time it was all him building a lead with four takedowns before locking up a cradle and pinning him.
Michigan continues to have mixed results, but when you start seven freshmen that's kind of to be expected. This is a loss that'll sting with the mixed opportunities though.
