Michigan Releases Schedule

It's finally here! The Michigan Wrestling squad has a fun schedule lined up. Let's take a quick gander.

Michigan will host Virginia as their first dual meet. Virginia only sent two ranked guys to NY this March but should give the Wolverines a good fight. At 133, Stevan Micic will probably get a great early test with DiCamillo who was the 6-seed but lost in the blood round of this year's NCAA's.

They will then travel to Norman to meet new Coach Roselli and hopefully inflict some revenge for last year's disappointing showing in Ann Arbor. Returning AA Milhof will be a great opportunity for Assad to make a big splash at 125.

The Wolverines will then hop a flight from Norman to Oregon to take on the Beavers to make quite the early season road trip.

The Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational keeps growing in strength and will be the big regular season tournament on the docket for McFarland's crew. Last year he elected to only send redshirts and backups to the Southern Scuffle and not have his squad go through a big 2-day event right before the Big Ten dual season. The Scuffle is not listed on this year's schedule.

The Big Ten schedule this season is a bit light not having Penn State or Ohio State in the rotation. Michigan was 8-1 in the conference last season and could make a similar run at going through the slate unscathed.

Iowa travels to Ann Arbor on January 6th for the first time since 2013! Obviously, this is the big cirlced date on the calendar this year as the teams could be very evenly matched and both undefeated in Big Ten duals at the time. Travelling to Nebraska should be another big test as well.

There will be three non-conference duals after the New Year. Michigan will host Lehigh and travel to Central Michigan. Lehigh has not had much in individual national title contenders lately but have had tough dual teams in recent seasons. The 3rd non-conference dual will be part of the National Duals series where Michigan will be on the road to face a tough team.

Michigan's mixture of accomplished returners and highly anticipated recruits should make for a lot of fireworks this season.
