Pan Am Countries Struggle Qualifying

In the penultimate year of the quad, fans also have a rooting interest in the countries in their continental qualifiers. The better they do, the easier the tickets at the qualifier since countries that already qualified countries do not send a competitor at that weight. Maybe it was the lengthy trip to Kazakhstan, but the Pan Am countries did not qualify many.

Pan Am Weights Qualified:

GR 67 kg: Cuba

GR 130 kg: Cuba

WFS 68 kg: USA

WFS 76 kg: USA

MFS 74 kg: USA

MFS 86 kg: Columbia

MFS 97 kg: USA

USA’s four is much lower than expected. It’s even more surprising that Cuba’s Men’s Freestyle and Canada’s Women’s Freestyle teams did not qualify a weight. There will be some weights with many more established competitors than the two spots per weight class available.

In #Coontime news, despite him having a bad tournament there was good news when Cuba qualified. Acosta (Chile), Coon, and Lopez (Cuba) aka one of the greatest wrestlers of all-time all being at the qualifier would have been disappointing to see. However, Pino Hinds got the job done.

The Pan-Am Qualifier will be March 13-15 in Ottawa, Canada.
