In a weekend of shockers, Doug Welch (Purdue) and Coach Ersland pulled off the biggest one with a win over #2 James Green (Nebraska)

Minnesota started this weekend by squeaking out a home dual with Michigan 20-19. It would have been back to back years Michigan pulled the upset, but Dylan Ness pulled out another dual changing pin. Alec Pantaleo, the 149 for Michigan, continues to impress as a true freshman with a great win over Jake Short. The Wolverines were very angry about an alleged missed pin call in the bout that would have won the dual for them. Adam Coon (Michigan) pinned #13 Michael Kroells to make this a tight dual to the end before Dardanes beat Bruno for the 2nd time this year.

Michigan defeated Michigan State 28-9. John Rizqallah (MSU) defeated #13 Domenic Abounader 4-3. There was a very controversial call at the end of the 1st period over a reversal for Abounader. I was in attendance and assumed after the review there would at least be a loss of control point, but neither was given. At 165, #10 Taylor Massa (Michigan) won when his front headlock caused Ryan Watts to go unconscious. The 141 match featured Javier Gasca (ranked #11 at 133) against the 133/141 George Fisher (a very good backup stuck behind top 10 guys Bruno & Dutton). Fisher was able to win an exciting 10-8 match.
